  3. Select the GST return form that you want to file from the drop-down menu.

  4. Fill in the details of your sales and purchases for the specified period. Make sure that the details match the invoices issued and received.

  5. Verify the details and submit the return.

  6. Pay the tax due, if any, by generating a challan through the GST portal. You can make the payment online or offline.

 

Here are the types of GST returns and their due dates:

  1. GSTR-1: This return form contains the details of outward supplies, i.e., sales. It is to be filed by the 11th of the next month.

  2. GSTR-2A: This form is a read-only form and contains the details of inward supplies, i.e., purchases. It is auto-populated from the suppliers' GSTR-1 return.

  3. GSTR-3B: This is a summary return form that needs to be filed by the 20th of the next month. It contains the summary of both inward and outward supplies, and the tax payable.

  4. GSTR-4: This return form is for businesses registered under the composition scheme. It is to be filed on a quarterly basis by the 18th of the month following the quarter.

  5. GSTR-9: This is an annual return form that contains the details of all the transactions done during the financial year. It needs to be filed by the 31st of December of the next financial year.
